How to Troubleshoot & Fix Grammarly Not Working with Oops Something Went Wrong Error Message

There are different factors why your Grammarly online tool won’t load, and the Oops, something went wrong error message is displayed. You can find out what causes the problem by following each of the methods below.

Method #1 – Reload Grammarly Web Page

Just a little under the error message displayed on your screen, you will see Grammarly’s suggestion, “Please try to reload the page.” Try to reload the page until it goes back to its normal state. You may also want to exit the tab and load a new one. Enter the Grammarly website and check if it works.

Method #2 – Clear your Browser Cache and Cookies Data

You can also delete or clear your browser data by navigating to the More option or the History setting of your web browser. Go to Clear Browsing Data or Clear Data option. Set the Time Range to All Time and check the boxes next to cookies, cache, and browsing data. Click the Clear Data button.

Method #3 – Disable your Antivirus Software

Your Windows 10/11 Antivirus or Windows Defender software might be preventing Grammarly from pushing through. You can disable your security tools first and try reloading Grammarly.

  • To disable Windows Defender, go to the Settings menu.
  • Select Update & Security.
  • Click Windows Security.
  • Choose Virus & threat protection.
  • Go to Manage settings.
  • Look for Real-time protection and toggle it to Off.
  • To turn off your antivirus, look for your antivirus icon.
  • Right-click on the app icon.
  • Select Disable.
  • You can turn them back on after everything is okay.

Method #4 – Try Using Grammarly from Another Device

If you are using your computer to access the Grammarly website, you can switch to your mobile device and check if it works from there. If you have a spare computer, you can try loading the service from there too. Sometimes, it may work with one device but not on another.

Method #5 – Switch to Another Network

If there is a different network available where you can connect to the Internet, you can try to switch to it and check if it works. Make sure you are using a private Internet connection to keep your online accounts secure.
