Many gamers are using Discord to connect with friends and other gamers. It is a helpful platform to create a network for gamers and expand your gaming connection. However, some users encounter the RTC Connecting No Route error message when they try to access and use Discord voice chat.
There are different reasons why the error occurs. Your Firewall or antivirus may be blocking the app or Discord is blocked by a network administrator. It is possible that your IP address is changed or that the VPN you are using is not configured to use the app. Whatever the reason may be, there are solutions on how you can fix the error. How to Fix Discord No Route Error on Voice Channel Connection
Method #1 – Restart your Router and Modem
- First, turn your router and modem off and unplug the power cable from the power source.
- Wait for several minutes and plug the devices back in. Turn your router on.
- You will also need to restart your computer. Click Start.
- Select Power and click Restart.
- Wait for your computer to completely reboot before check if you see the Discord error again.
Method #2 – Check your Discord Status
It is possible that Discord may have been blocked by the network administration.
- Open the Run dialog box. You can also press Windows key + R.
- Next, type control and press Enter.
- Click Network and Internet.
- Select Network and Sharing Center.
- Look for Connections on the right side of the window and click on your Wifi connection.
- Select Properties.
- Open Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) and click Properties.
- Look for Use the following DNS server addresses at the bottom. Change the values of the Preferred DNS server to 8 8 8 8 and Alternate DNS server to 8 8 4 4.
- Click OK. This will save all the changes.
- Restart your computer and check if the error still exists.
Method #3 – Turn off VPN, if you are using one
If you are using a VPN, chances are it can interrupt your access to Discord. Turn off your VPN and use your home network to connect to the Internet. The VPN you are using may not be configured to use the User Datagram Protocol or UDP hence, it is popping up the Discord error.
Method #4 – Check you’re Firewall Settings
Another possible reason for the error is your Firewall or antivirus software. They may be effective in protecting your computer but they also are blocking Discord.
- Open Start and select Settings.
- Go to Update & Security.
- Select Windows Security.
- Click Firewall & network protection.
- Look for the Allow an app through firewall option and click to open.
- Scroll down the list and look for Discord.
- Check the box to allow the app through your Firewall.
- Click OK to save the changes.
Method # 5 – Disable Enable Quality of Service High Packet Priority in Discord
- Open the Discord app.
- At the bottom-left corner, click the Gear icon to open Settings.
- Under App Settings, click Voice & Video.
- Look for Quality of Service.
- Under it, you will see the Enable Quality of Service High Packet Priority. Toggle it to Off.
- Close your Discord app and launch it again.
