Solution #1 – Check if your Windows 10 PC is in Sleep Mode

  • Click the Start button.
  • On the Search bar, enter Power and sleep settings.
  • On the Power and sleep settings, navigate to the Sleep section.
  • Look for On battery power, turn off after.
  • Check the minutes set on the option. You can set it to a longer number of minutes or select Never.
  • Go to When plugged in, turn off after. Set it to a different time or Never.

Solution #2 – Edit the Additional Power Settings on your Windows 10 PC

  • Right-click the Start button.
  • Select Power Options.
  • Go to your default power plan.
  • Click Change plan settings beside it.
  • Select Change advanced power settings.
  • Go to Processor power management.
  • Click the plus sign to expand the menu.
  • Under Minimum processor state, set the value to 0.
  • Now, go to Hard Disk.
  • Select Turn off the hard disk. Set the value to Never.
  • Click Apply.
  • Click OK.

Solution #3 – Make Sure your Windows 10 PC is not Overheating

The temperature of your computer may be high thus giving it more reason to randomly shutdown and restart. A normal temperature is under 60 degrees C. However, if it is between 60 and 70 degrees C, you need to ensure better airflow on your device. Avoid using your computer near heat sources or places with high temperatures. Check if nothing is obstructing the vent.

Solution #4 – Disable Fast Startup

  • Click the Start button.
  • Go to Settings.
  • Head on to System.
  • Select Power and Sleep.
  • Scroll down to Related Settings.
  • Choose Additional power settings.
  • Look for the Choose what power buttons do option and click it.
  • Select Change settings that are currently unavailable.
  • Look for Turn on fast startup. Uncheck the box.
  • Click Save changes.

Solution #5 – Perform an SFC Scan

  • Click the Start button.
  • On the Search box, enter Command Prompt.
  • Look for the Command Prompt on the search results and right-click on it.
  • Select Run as administrator.
  • Type sfc /scannow and hit Enter.
  • Now, type DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-Image /Restorehealth and hit Enter.

Solution #6 – Update your Windows 10 PC

  • Click the Start button.
  • Navigate to the Settings menu.
  • Go to Update & Security.
  • Select Windows Update.
  • Click Check for updates.
