There has been a huge mishap in Google, as a number of users complained of not seeing their Google Maps Timeline data. According to the giant tech company, the issue was on their side, noting that there has been a technical error resulting in lost timeline data. Fortunately, a fix has been released.
Google Maps Timeline stores information of places visited by users. It helps users to recall routes they have taken or previous trips based on their Location History.

The brief incident may have caused worries on affected users but it may not be the first time the Google Maps Timeline data encountered before.
If you are one of the users whose Google Maps Timeline data has been deleted, you can now restore the lost information by updating your Google Maps app to the latest version. However, those who were not able to enable the backups cannot recover their data.
You can also import your data by heading to the Timeline section. You can find the backup option by tapping the cloud icon. More details on recovering your delete Google Mapps data from backup can be found here.
