Having huge word counts may seem okay, but if you decide to send or share it with others, it can affect file size. At the same time, not a lot of users appreciate spending extra time reading documents with lengthy and elaborate texts.
How to Create a Summary of Word Documents with Lengthy Texts Using Microsoft Copilot

Hence, Copilot will summarize these files first for you. Here’s how it works.
Open the document on your Word app and then head over to the Home tab. Click the Copilot button and go to the chat box. Type “Summarize this document and press Enter. Copilot will create a summary of the document.
What if you don’t like the summary? Simply type the same command on your Copilot chat box for it to create a new summary. If you need to check out where Copilot pulled the information, you can click References to see the citations.
Copilot for Word can summarize up to 80,000 words and about 4 times more than it can previously summarize. This new function is available in Word for Microsoft 365, Word for Microsoft 365 for Mac, Word for iPad and Word for Web app.
However, you need to update your device software to the following version: For Windows, install version 2310 (Build 16919.20000) or later and version 16.78 (Build 23082801) or later for Mac.
