Blocking pesky emails in Gmail is a common practice for practically every user. Be it people you don’t like, spam accounts, or newsletters you don’t care about, everyone has blocked or delete another email account.
Sometimes however, this can be an issue within Gmail itself, especially if you’ve ever accidentally blocked an important email account. In cases like this, how can you find and view these blocked emails?
Well, thankfully, there are plenty of ways to get around this issue, and they’re all quite simple. Still, if you aren’t aware of these workarounds, then worry not!
We’ve compiled several guides below that show you how to get past email blocks. So, without further ado, let’s get right into getting back access to those blocked emails.

How to Search and Check Blocked Emails in Gmail
Finding blocked emails from the Gmail app is, as we said, not particularly difficult. You do however need to know the specific ways to get to those emails, and this is what tends to cause confusion.
More often than not, these methods aren’t explained to the user, leaving them clueless. It’s why most users don’t actually know that there isn’t a blocked emails section, they just go to a different folder, which we’ll explain below.
Method #1 – Checking your Spam Folder for Blocked Emails
- Go to your Gmail account.
- On the drop down menu on the left, click the More option at the bottom.
- Go to the Spam folder.
- Check and see if the email you’re looking for is there.
- If the email isn’t there, then it has been deleted because it wasn’t checked in 30 days.
Method #2 – Check the Trash Folder for Unopened Emails
- When emails from blocked accounts aren’t opened, they go into the Trash folder.
- To access this folder, go to your Gmail account.
- On the drop down menu on the left, click the More option at the bottom.
- Go to the Trash folder.
- Check and see if the email you’re looking for is there.
- In the case that there are too many emails, use the search function.
Steps to Unblock a Blocked Gmail Account

- If you want emails from a blocked account to be readable as usual, you’ll need to unblock it.
- First, go to your Gmail account.
- Click on the gear icon in the top right.
- Select the See all settings option.
- Click on the Filters and Blocked Addresses tab.
- Find the email accounts you’re looking for in the blocklist.
- Unblock the email accounts.
With that, you should be able to access emails from blocked accounts, as well as unblock email accounts to receive future emails from them with no problem. We hope this simple guide helped you with your problem, and for more tips and fixes like this, stay tuned!
