Fixing Screen Flickering Problem on your Windows 11 Computer

There can be various reasons why your Windows 11 computer experiences a screen flickering issue. It can be due to faulty hardware or a corrupt display or graphics driver. While it takes a long time to figure out what may be wrong with your laptop or desktop PC, one of the best ways you can do is to try to troubleshoot and fix it. These methods below may troubleshoot your screen flickering problem depending on the cause of the display issue. You can try to follow each solution below one at a time and check if it works for you.

Solution #1 – Check your PC Hardware

Make sure that the cables are not loose or damaged. Check your monitor and see if there are any signs of problems. You can try to unplug and replug the cables on your monitor. Another way is to try to plug your monitor cables into a different port.

Solution #2 – Test your Task Manager

One of the ways to figure out what causes the error is to check the task manager. Open the Task Manager on your Windows 11 PC by pressing Ctrl+Alt+Delete. If the Task Manager is flickering, the issue may be with your display driver. If not, it can be due to an incompatible app.

Solution #3 – Roll Back your Display Driver

  • Launch the Search menu of your Windows 11 PC.
  • Look for the Device Manager.
  • Click the Device Manager.
  • Navigate to Display Adapters and expand the menu.
  • Right-click on the adapter.
  • Select Properties.
  • Go to the Driver tab.
  • Choose Roll Back Driver.
  • Click Yes.
  • Reboot your PC.

Solution #4 – Update your Display Driver

  • On the Device Manager, navigate to Display Adapters.
  • Right-click on the adapter.
  • Select Update.

Solution #5 – Choose a Different Refresh Rate for your Windows 11 PC

  • Open the Settings menu.
  • Select System.
  • Choose Display.
  • Scroll down to Advanced Display.
  • Look for the option Choose a refresh rate.
  • Change the refresh rate through the box next to it.

Solution #6 – Reinstall your Display Driver

  • Open the Device Manager.
  • Go to Display Adapters.
  • Right-click your adapter.
  • Select Properties.
  • Check the box next to Delete the driver software for this device.
  • Click OK.
  • Restart your PC.

Solution #7 – Uninstall the Problematic App

If you know what app may be causing the error, you can uninstall it.

  • Launch the Settings menu of your Windows 11 PC.
  • Go to Apps.
  • Select Apps & features.
  • Look for the app that you want to uninstall.
  • Click Uninstall.
  • Click Uninstall again.
  • Choose Yes.
  • Restart your device.
  • If the app is not causing the problem, you can reinstall it via the Microsoft Store.
