You may have heard of the brand new streaming hub launched by Disney recently. Star is a general entertainment and a new addition to the default channels on Disney Plus. Disney released the streaming channel last February 23, 2021, and many users are ecstatic to stream movies and shows on Star.
What TV Shows & Movies to Stream in Star on Disney+
Disney Plus Star offers shows and movies from Hulu, FX, 20th Television, Touchstone Pictures, ABC, Freeform, and 20th Century Studios. However, Disney+ will release limited streaming content from these studios on Star, such as only the 1st season of the show or selected movies.
Star will serve as a replacement for Hulu in Disney’s international market since the latter is only available in the US. Disney wants to offer its users more adult-friendly content to stream, and without Hulu, it may be a challenge. Thus, Star will be Disney’s solution to territories outside of the US.
Initially, countries like Canada, selected territories in Europe, Singapore, Australia, and New Zealand will enjoy the new content on Disney+ Star. It will appear as part of the default channels on Disney Plus alongside well-known brands like Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, and National Geographic.
Some of the movies you can look forward watching on Star include Deadpool 2, Far From the Madding Crowd, Independence Day: Resurgence, The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, Borat, The Happening, among others. Some shows you can stream on Star include The X-Files, According to Jim, Sons of Anarchy, Modern Family, Family Guy, Bones, Black-Ish, and Love, Victor.
Will Star on Disney Plus be Available in the United States?
The straight answer is No. Disney Plus Star streaming platform is not available and is not coming to the audience in the United States. Why isn’t Star available in the US? As mentioned above, Star is meant for the International market to access Hulu, FX, and other adult-appropriate content. The US market can already enjoy all these titles right within Hulu.
Star is a default channel on Disney Plus global streaming service, which means users will not have to pay extra to stream it. However, subscribers in the US will have to pay an additional cost if they want to add a Hulu bundle in their Disney+ subscription. Disney Plus bundle without Hulu is at $8 a month. To add Hulu, they need to pay $13 per month.
