If you’re using Google Chrome 78 or later, Tab Hover Cards are enabled by default as a new feature. They show the URL and name of the website when you hover your mouse over the tab.
It’s important to note that this feature is not fully complete yet similar to what we have in Microsoft Edge. Sometimes Chrome doesn’t display the full name on the tab, and if it’s too long, Google is working on including it in the development versions.

Google Chrome is the most popular web browser available for all major platforms, including Windows, Android and Linux. It is equipped with a powerful rendering engine that supports all modern web standards.
On top of all these, if you prefer not to see these cards when you hover the tabs, you can always disable this feature.
How to Disable Tab Hover Cards Feature in Chrome

To disable the cards feature, you must use an experimental flag in Chrome when you put your mouse cursor over a tab. If you enable/disable some of the chrome://flags features, you may need to use some features that have not been tested on all devices and may sometimes behave badly. You may find some bugs, so be careful when playing with some of the available flags.
To disable Tab Hover Cards in Chrome, use these steps:
- Open the Chrome browser.
- In the address bar, enter the next path and press Enter: chrome://flags/#tab-hover-cards
- You can also insert chrome://flags/#tab-hover-cards into Omnibox and then press Enter to go directly to the flag.
- Use the drop-down menu on the right and select Disable.
- In the address bar, enter the next path and press Enter: chrome://flags/#tab-hover-card-images
- Use the drop-down menu on the right and select Disable.
- Click the Restart Now button.
Once you have finished all the steps, when you point your mouse over the tabs, you will no longer see a card preview.
Conclusion
Please note that flags are temporary remedies, they can work on several versions, after that they might be removed. Therefore, it is best that you get used to the Tab Hover Cards feature as it will soon be a permanent thing on Google Chrome browser.
