How to Transfer Files from OneDrive to Google Drive

The free OneDrive storage is only up to 5GB, decreasing its 15GB storage in 2016. On the other hand, Google Drive offers up to 15 GB free storage. That being said, many users find OneDrive limited for all their files thus the need for the big move.

Some users still want to use OneDrive but due to the limited free space, transferring their photos and files to another cloud can help free up some space. Others are changing their devices as well so they also need to integrate all their files to Google Drive.

Method 1 – Download from OneDrive and Upload to Google Drive

  • On the menu bar, click Download.
  • Choose the location where to save your files and wait for the process to finish.
  • Next, sign in to your Google Drive account.
  • On the left side menu, click My Drive.
  • Select Upload Files and choose the files that you have downloaded from OneDrive.
  • Wait for the process to complete.

Alternative Way:

  • Another way to upload files on Google Drive is by clicking the New button on the left.
  • Choose File Upload and choose the files you want to upload.
  • Wait for the process to complete.

Method 2 – Dragging from OneDrive and Dropping to Google Drive

  • First open your OneDrive in one window.
  • Then, sign in to Google Drive in another window.
  • In OneDrive, highlight all the files that you want to transfer to Google Drive.
  • Press the highlighted files and drag them to Google Drive. It will automatically upload all the files.

Method 3 – Using a Third Party Application

There are third-party tools available that you can use to transfer all your files from OneDrive to Google Drive. You can authorize the application to transfer from OneDrive as the source and Google Drive as the destination. That way, you will only need to access one application to transfer the files from one drive to another.
