In this day and age, a lot of people will try everything to take advantage of others and gain something out of it. The extent increases and people are also dealing with deception and scamming. Getting entangled in this web of trickery is not a good spot to be.

That is the reason why many Apple users are concerned with getting a suspicious email. While some email addresses look legit, they still seem shady. Take for example a message from no_reply@email.apple.com requesting for your purchase details. It indicates that someone is trying to check your purchase information using American Express and verify if the activity is authorized.
Now, if you haven’t made any purchase on Apple with your American Express account, it is suspicious. If the email message asks you to click on a link and input your personal information such as account details and password, it is another sign of phishing.
Apple users have already reported this unlikely activity since nothing is unusual with their accounts but the email message itself becomes doubtful.
We want to avoid these activities as much as possible but we cannot deny that they are out there ready to prey on anyone. The question is, how do you protect yourself from them?
Protecting Yourself Against Scam Emails

Let’s begin with safeguarding your account. We want to do as much as we can, but not all fences are guaranteed to be strong. However, you can always apply 2FA on your accounts to add another layer of cushion.
Next, keep your online footprints and behaviors on the safe side. That means, do not simply click on links you are unfamiliar with. Make sure not to share or input your personal details on websites you are also not familiar with.
Updating your software also helps as new security features are always available. Changing your passwords is also an effective way to keep scammers at bay.
What to Do When You Receive a Scam Email
So, you received a deceptive email masking itself as innocent? Here’s what you can do. First, never click any link provided on the email message. Next, do not perform any call to action or advice given. If you need to do something like changing your password or verifying your account, do it on the official platforms.
You can also mark the email as spam. Lastly, report the email to your IT department or, in the case of ‘You Requested your Purchase Details’ from no_reply@email.apple.com issue, to Apple.
In Summary
Phishing emails are rampant and can cause damage to your accounts. But, with extra precautions, we can always protect ourselves and keep them away.
