How to Fix Garmin USB Device Not Detected or Recognized in Windows 10/11

Fixing Garmin USB Devices Not Detected or Recognized in Windows 10 or 11 Computer

If you cannot connect your Garmin USB device with your Windows 10 or 11 PC, you can try to troubleshoot with the methods below. Follow each step one at a time and check if it fixes the problem or not.

Solution #1 – Restart your Windows 10 or 11 PC

  • Exit all running apps on your Windows 10 or 11 PC.
  • Shut down your computer.
  • Wait for a few moments before turning the power on.
  • Now, reconnect your Garmin USB device.

Solution #2 – Plug your Garmin USB Device into a Different Port

You can try to plug your Garmin USB device into another port and check if it works. Try to plug and unplug the cord a few times. If it does not work, see if you can connect your Garmin USB device to a different computer if available.

Solution #3 – Update your USB Driver

  • Launch the Settings menu of your Windows PC.
  • On the Search bar, enter Device Manager.
  • On the Device Manager window, scroll down and double-click Universal Serial Bus controllers. 
  • Look for the USB Root Hub and right-click on it.
  • Select Update Driver.
  • Click Search automatically for drivers.
  • If there are other USB Root Hubs, update the drivers by following the steps above.

Solution #4 – Edit the Power Management Setting on Windows

  • Navigate to the Device Manager.
  • Double-click Universal Serial Bus controllers.
  • Right-click USB Root Hub.
  • Select Properties.
  • Navigate to the Power Management tab.
  • Uncheck the box next to Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power.
  • Click OK.
  • Repeat the same procedure for all USB Root Hub options.
