How to Troubleshoot & Resolve Google Pay Not Working Issue on Android Phone or iPhone Devices

There are various ways for you to fix the error if your Google Pay payment transactions failed on mobile. You can follow each of the troubleshooting solutions listed below one at a time and check if it works for your Android phone or iPhone or not.

Solution #1 – Check your Internet Network Connection

It can be an issue with your Internet service provider. Try to do a speed test to check your WiFi network signal. You can also browse the Internet to verify if you can access it online. Contact your ISP if there are issues with your Internet connection.

Solution #2 – Verify the Details on your Google Pay Account

  • Launch the Google Play app.
  • On the upper right corner, tap the three-dotted icon.
  • Go to Settings.
  • Navigate to the Account section.
  • Select Payment methods.
  • Tap your bank account.
  • Check the details of your account for any errors. To edit the information, tap the Pen icon next to it.

Solution #3 – Clear the Google Pay App Cache

  • Open the Settings menu of your device.
  • Go to Apps.
  • Tap Google Pay.
  • Select Storage.
  • Tap Clear Cache.
  • Check if it works. If not, follow the steps above. Now, select Clear Data.

Solution #4 – Verify your Mobile Number

  • On the Google Play app, navigate to Settings.
  • Go to Personal Info.
  • Look for your mobile number and confirm the information.
  • Tap the Edit number to change it.
  • Enter your mobile number.

Solution #5 – Update the Google Pay App

  • Open the AppStore on your iPhone or the Google Play Store for Android.
  • Search for Google Pay or navigate to Manage Apps.
  • Check if there are available updates and install them.
  • Restart your mobile device.

Solution #6 – Contact Google Pay Customer Service

If you continue to experience the same error, you can talk to a customer service representative to discuss the issue further.

  • Go to the Google Pay App.
  • Tap the three-dotted icon.
  • Select Settings.
  • Go to the Information section.
  • Select Help & feedback.
  • Tap the Contact button.
