Yubico is releasing new versions of YubiKey 5 to accommodate its upcoming 5.7 update on its account verification device firmware. If you want to enjoy the latest features and security enhancements from Yubico, you need to change your keys to the new YubiKey 5 series.
YubiKeys enables you to steer away from online or software-based authenticators. While these are as effective in keeping your logins secured, having a hardware authentication device will give you another level of protection. Rather than generating a code for your two-factor authentication (2FA), you just need to press a button on YubiKey. That means, you no longer need to get a code from a text or get one from an authenticator app.

What can you Get out of the New YubiKey 5 Series of Security Key Devices from Yubico?
Yubico equips its new YubiKey 5 devices with the latest firmware version, the 5.7 firmware update. It promises enhanced security features such as being able to set more complex PINs and preventing users from creating simple or common PINs.
There will be expanded storage both on FIDO2 and OATH applications with potential credentials include up to 100 passkeys, 64 OATH seeds, 24 PIV certificates and 2 OTP seeds. Plus, new YubiKey 5 devices will have enhanced PIV and asset tracking.
