Microsoft updates for Windows 10 and 11 are equipped with fixes and improvements, however not guaranteeing a devoid of bugs and issues. The giant tech company released the KB5036979 update for Windows 10 22H2 at the end of April this year but many users encountered issues such as the “Open with” dialogue box on several apps. When users right-click on app icons from the Start Menu or Taskbar, it shows the “Open with” dialogue box rather than the usual context menu.
This frustrates many users as the error keeps asking “How do you want to open this file?” Initially, the context menu will show the execution of the selected task. This same issue also happens to users of Windows 10 21H2 after installing the May 2024 Patch Tuesday.

Now, Microsoft is bringing in a resolution to the said problem with the June 25 Patch Tuesday. The KB5039299 update shows the jump list with quick access to frequently used app items when you right click on an app on the Start menu or taskbar. Unfortunately, nothing happens when you click the options on the jump list.
The KB5039299 update also addresses the issues with Windows Defender Application Control (WDAC) and mobile device management (MDM) client. There are also fixes for the flash of triangles or boxes on Microsoft Edge browser and other apps as well as the resuming from hibernate issue with BitLocker.
You can install the KB5039299 update by launching the Settings menu of your Windows 10. Next, navigate to Update & Security and select Windows Update. You can then install the latest update version.
