However, there are some instances when your Apple CarPlay is not working. In some cases, it is not connecting or keeps on crashing when you set it up on your car.

Sometimes, users experience the issue while the phone is charging. For others, the music is not playing or Apple CarPlay is not showing up at all on iPhone. The problem might rely solely on the new iOS update, most especially with iOS 14 and up. It happens to several users, but there are ways to resolve the issue.

How to Troubleshoot & Fix Apple CarPlay Not Working or Connecting Problem on iOS

There are several reasons why your Apple CarPlay is not working or connecting on your iOS device to your car. It can be an error with your iPhone or a problem with the car’s features. Whatever is the cause of the issue, try to fix it by following the methods below.

Method #1 – Try to Re-Pair your iPhone

  • Launch the Settings menu.
  • Go to Bluetooth.
  • Look for your car and unpair it.
  • Go back to Settings.
  • Navigate to General.
  • Open CarPlay.
  • Choose your car.
  • Select Forget This Car.
  • Confirm your action.
  • Now, you have to unpair your iPhone from your car settings. Follow the same procedure above.
  • Restart both devices and re-pair them.

Method #2 – Check if CarPlay is Enable

  • Open the Settings menu.
  • Select Screen Time.
  • Go to Content & Privacy Restrictions.
  • Select Allowed Apps.
  • Look for CarPlay and turn it on.

Method #3 – Turn On Siri Settings

  • Go to the Settings menu.
  • Select Siri & Search.
  • Enable Listen for “Hey Siri.”
  • Turn on the Press Side Button for Siri.
  • Make sure to enable Allow Siri When Locked.

Method #4 – Double Check your USB cables and ports

Sometimes, the problem is with the hardware of your devices. Check if there are issues with your USB cables and ports. Make sure that they are not broken or frayed.

Method #5 – Update your iPhone

  • On the Settings menu of your iPhone, go to General.
  • Select Software Update.
  • If an update is available, install it.
  • Restart your iPhone.

Method #6 – Allow CarPlay While Locked

  • Open the Settings menu.
  • Navigate to General.
  • Select CarPlay.
  • Tap your car.
  • Look for Allow CarPlay While Locked and enable it.
