Microsoft launched a new feature called Ink to Text Pen in its applications, specifically OneNote, Word, and PowerPoint. Now, you can use the same tool on your Excel sheets!

So, what’s the Ink to Text Pen feature about? It basically combines the simplicity of using a digital pen or stylus and the effectiveness of reading data in text. As you enter content into your spreadsheet, it will convert your handwriting into a more readable text.

First, navigate to the Draw menu option of your Excel sheet. Can’t find it? Enable it first by going to File, then Options, next Customize Ribbons and turn on Draw.

Tap Ink to Text Pen.

Now, you can start writing on a single cell or select multiple cells using the Straight line gesture. The tool even allows you to replace content on existing cells or delete them with the Scratch—out gesture. Unfortunately, you cannot use it on frozen panes. 

Who can Access Microsoft Excel’s Ink to Text Pen Tool?

If you want to use the Ink to Text Pen feature on your Excel sheet, you will need to access it in a device with a digital pen or stylus. You also have to upgrade your Windows 11 version to 23H2.
