Top Solutions to Resolve QuickBooks Error Code -6000, -82/-6000, -83/-6000 or -106

Here are some fixes that you can try if any of these errors are disrupting your Quickbooks experience:

Re-launch Quickbooks Desktop

One of the possible quick fixes to solve the issue is to re-launch QuickBooks Desktop. All you have to do is right-click the icon of QuickBooks Desktop on your desktop and choose Run as Administrator. You can simply copy the company file location if it’s saved on an external drive.

Configure Your Security Software and Firewall

Configuring your firewall settings and security software may also do the trick if you’re seeing error codes when trying to open company files on Quickbooks. A few tweaks in the settings may be all it takes to solve the issue.

Recreate the Damaged Folder

Recreating the damaged folder involves a few easy steps:

  1. Create a new folder on the C: drive.
  2. Launch the folder where you saved the company file.
  3. Look for the .qbw file.
  4. Right-click on the file and choose Copy.
  5. Just open this new folder and paste the file.
  6. Change the access permissions on windows so you can start sharing the company files.
  7. Launch the QuickBooks Desktop and try to open the file from its new location.

Give the.TLG and .ND Files a New Name

.TLG and .ND are two configuration files that give QuickBooks Desktop access to the company files in a multi-user mode or network. If these files are either damaged or corrupted, errors are expected to occur every time you open QuickBooks Desktop.

Designating a new name for these files won’t result in data loss because will be recreated automatically every time you scan the company files or open them with the QuickBooks Database Server Manager.

Here’s how to do it:

  1. Open the specific folder containing the company file you want to open.
  2. Look for the files that have the file name as the company files but this time, with.TLG and .ND extensions.
  3. Right-click the .tlg or .nd file and choose Rename. Make sure you add .old after the extension and then click Enter.

Opt for a CNC Path

  1. Right-click the icon for Quickbooks on your desktop.
  2. Press and hold the Ctrl key on the keyboard and choose Run as Administrator. Continue holding down the Ctrl key until the window for No Company Open pops up. QuickBooks Desktop won’t be able to automatically open a company file if you hold down the Ctrl key.
  3. Choose Open or Restore Company from the File Menu.
  4. Select Open a Company File and click Next.
  5. Choose Network in the left pane and go to the company file’s location. You might have to set folder permissions if you can’t see the folder in the same location as the saved company file.
  6. Choose the company file and click Open.

QuickBooks has truly made it easier and more convenient than ever to manage and track your payroll and finances. Just follow the steps above the next time you encounter errors every time you open a company file on QuickBooks.
