Why Won’t My Fitbit Sync with the App?

One of the reasons your Fitbit acts up is an unreliable wireless connection. Your Fitbit tracker connects to the app via Bluetooth connection. Another reason is when there is a problem with the Fitbit app. In some cases, your Fitbit tracker is experiencing issues, which prevents it from syncing. How to Fix Fitbit App not Working on Android Phone or iPhone

You can find below several methods that will help you troubleshoot the common syncing problem with your Fitbit fitness tracking device. Follow each of the steps below one at a time and check if it fixes the error or not.

Method #1 – Check the Battery Life of your Fitbit Tracker

Sometimes, you may overlook the battery life of your Fitbit tracker. Check the battery level of your Fitbit tracker and charge it if it is near empty.

Method #2 – Check your WiFi Connection

Navigate to the WiFi section of your device and turn the WiFi off for a few seconds. Turn it back on and refresh your Fitbit app.

Method #3 – Make Sure your Bluetooth Connection is Working

  • Navigate to the Settings menu of your device.
  • Go to Bluetooth.
  • Check if the Bluetooth is on.
  • You can also toggle the button to off and then on again.

Method #4 – Re-pair your Fitbit Tracker to your Mobile Phone

  • Go to the Bluetooth settings on your device.
  • Select Fitbit on the list of paired devices and remove it.
  • Restart your device.
  • Navigate back to the Bluetooth settings.
  • Pair your Fitbit tracker again.

Method #5 – Perform a Manual Sync on your Fitbit App

  • Launch the Fitbit App.
  • At the bottom, tap Account.
  • Select your Fitbit Tracker.
  • Tap Sync Now.

Method #6 – Update your Fitbit App for Android or iOS

  • Launch the Google Play Store or the AppStore.
  • Navigate to Manage Apps or Apps.
  • Look for Fitbit. You can also use the search bar.
  • Check if there are updates available and tap Update.
  • Restart your device.

Method #7 – Reinstall the Fitbit App

If nothing works, you can try to reinstall a new version of the Fitbit app for iOS or Android device. Uninstall the current app first based on your device’s instructions. Head over to the Google Play Store or the App Store and look for the Fitbit app. Tap the Install button.

Method #8 – Restart your Fitbit Tracker

There are different ways to restart your Fitbit tracker, depending on the model you use. In some models, you need to use the charging cable and press the button on your tracker. Other models allow you to navigate through the Settings menu and restart the device. Check the instructions in your manual on how you can reboot your Fitbit tracker.
