Tip #1 – Verify the Data on Find and Replace

Make sure you enter the correct spelling of the data you want to find. Try to double check the spacing, commas, periods, or hyphen used.

  • Open Find and Replace on Google Sheets.
  • Enter the data on Find.
  • Add the new information on Replace with.
  • Now, check the Also Search Within Formulas box.
  • Check the Also Search Within Links box.
  • Click the Find button.

Tip #3 – Uncheck Match Case Option

Match Case will only look for data matching exactly what you entered, taking note of the capitalization and spacing.

  • Launch Find and Replace on Google Sheets.
  • Enter the data on Find.
  • Add the new information on Replace with.
  • Make sure to uncheck the Match Case box. You can also uncheck the Match Entire Cell Contents box.
  • Click the Find button.

Tip #4 – Unfreeze Rows and Columns

Freezing some of the rows and columns may affect the search results. Try to unfreeze all rows and columns by going to the View menu and clicking No Rows and No Columns. You can freeze them back again later on.

Tip #5 – Clear the Cell Formatting

The formatting on your cells may get in the way of finding the right data. You can clear the formatting by navigating to the Format menu and selecting Clear Formatting.
