Android Auto makes it easier for car users to navigate on their Android devices hands-free. With the help of Google Assistant, it is easy to make a phone call, send a message, answer calls, or just about anything you want on your Android Auto without touching anything. The voice-activated features make driving safer and more convenient.

Unfortunately, there have been reports of a problem with the OK Google feature on Android Auto. Users identify an error that prevents OK Google from working to activate and connect Google Assistant. The issue occurs after they install the new Android Auto software update on their device.

To improve the app features, Google launched the latest version of Android Auto, the 7.0 recently. However, despite its goals of enhancing the app and squashing known bugs, it turned out that there are problems such as the OK Google stopped working.

Solution #3 – Check If Google Assistant is Enabled

  • Launch the Google app on your Android device.

  • Open the Settings menu of your Android device.
  • Go to Google Assistant.
  • Select Voice Match.
  • Make sure to turn on OK Google.

Solution #5 – Downgrade Android Auto to Previous Version

Since the problem occurred during the Android Auto update, you can downgrade the app to its previous version and wait for Google to resolve the issue before you upgrade the software again.

To downgrade the Android Auto app, you will need to uninstall the current version on your Android device. Then, look for the APK of the Android Auto version you want. Using the APK Mirror app, you can download the APK file to install the previous Android Auto app version.
