How to Fix OneNote App Error 0xE0000007 Syncing Notebook Problem

There is always a lot of things we have to remember from our grocery list to our weekly tasks. Microsoft OneNote is here to help with its simple and easy-to-use digital notepad. You can instantly enter any addition to your list through your OneNote app from your smartphone and sync it with your family or even to your other devices.

But, there is one problem that annoys some users. It is the OneNote error 0xE0000007 syncing problem. When you encounter the error code 0xE0000007, it means that you cannot sync the changes you made on your notes using your OneNote app on Windows 10 PC or macOS computer. You will also see the error message, “We ran into a problem syncing your notebook. (Error code: 0xE0000007)

Most users come across the error code 0xE0000007 when they sync their OneNote on their iPhone, iPad, Mac or MacBook, and PC. Fortunately, there are workarounds that you can do to troubleshoot and fix the syncing issue. Let’s check them out below.

Fixes for OneNote App Error 0xE0000007 “We ran into a problem syncing your notebook”

If you have issues in syncing notebooks from your OneNote, the first thing you can do is backup the changes you made in your notebooks. As you work on the fixes to solve the issue, it is better to have a backup for you to go back to when things do not work out.

Now, you can try to sign out of OneNote and sign back in to check if it will sync your notebooks. If not, follow the solutions below.

Solution #1 – Force Sync your OneNote App

If OneNote app fails to sync your notebook, you can try to manually resync it.

  • To force sync notebooks on iPhone or iPad, pull down the current notebook list. If you want to sync all notebooks, pull down the Notebooks list.
  • To force sync notebooks on Mac, tap the Show Notebooks button.
  • Look for the notebook you want to sync.
  • Press the Control button and hold while you click the notebook.
  • Select Sync This Notebook.

Solution #2 – Update your OneNote App

According to Microsoft, they fixed the syncing problem in their Version 2.2 Build (17061301) update. If you have the previous or older version of Microsoft OneNote you can install the latest version.

  • Launch the Apple App Store or Microsoft Store.
  • Select Updates.
  • Look for OneNote and check if there are available updates.
  • Install the updates.

Solution #3 – Use OneNote for the Web

  • Go to onedrive.com.
  • Sign in to your Microsoft account. Make sure it is the same account you used on OneNote.
  • Now, look for the notebooks you want to sync and check if it has successfully synced your changes.

Solution #4 – Copy the OneNote Changes to Another Notebook

You can try to copy the changes you made on your notebook that will not sync. Then, open a new notebook and paste the data there. Now, try to access the OneNote for the Web and see if you can move the changes from the new notebook to the current faulty one. Try syncing if it works.

Solution #5 – Close Current OneNote Notebook and Reopen

Before you attempt this solution, make sure you have a backup in your notebook as we have stated above.

  • Select the Show Notebooks icon.
  • Look for the notebook you want to sync.
  • Press the Control button and hold while you click the notebook.
  • Select Close This Notebook.
  • Now, try to reopen it.
