How to Open & View an EPS File on a Windows 10 or 11 PC

EPS files are the most accessible when you use vector-based graphics design applications. While some programs might be able to open it regardless, sticking with the vector-based ones will ensure that you can edit it at any resolution without losing quality.

For the sake of illustration, we will go through the steps necessary to open an EPS file in Adobe Illustrator.

Step 1: Launch the Adobe Illustrator software

Step 2: Click on your file menu and select Open

Step 3: Search through your desktop for the file you wish to open

Step 4: Select the file and click Open.

How to Open & Use an EPS File on a Mac Computer

There are multiple pieces of software that can allow you to open an EPS file on a Mac computer, but we will be highlighting Inkscape. Note that this EPS viewer app works only on Macs with Intel architecture. Some other alternatives for macOS devices include Apple Preview, QuarkXpress, and MathType.

Step 1: Download Inkscape and install the software on your Mac computer

Step 2: Go through the setup until you’re able to launch the program

Step 3: Go to a tab that says “Time to Draw” and select “New Document” to gain access to a blank canvas

Step 4: Click on the File tab from the top left corner and Open

Step 5: Go to the input field for “File of type” and select Encapsulated PostScript (.eps)

Step 6: Locate your EPS file, click Open and click on Ok.

How to Convert an EPS File on PC and Mac
