If you are looking forward to the new OS release on your Mac, Apple is bringing you macOS Monterey. The 18th major release of Apple’s desktop operating system has an upgraded experience than its predecessor macOS Big Sur while benefitting from the same strong system foundation.
Features of macOS Monterey
macOS Monterey or macOS version 12 gives you a new experience when connecting with your friends on FaceTime. You can enjoy voice isolation mode, wide spectrum mode, and better spatial audio. FaceTime allows you to use SharePlay, where you can watch and listen together, share your screen, and more. There will be upgrades in Messages. macOS Monterey integrates the Shared with You feature that lets you share your pins, photos, Apple News, Apple Podcasts, and more.
There will be a redesign with the Safari browser including new privacy protection settings. Users will also get a new look for their notifications. Plus, Focus will allow you to concentrate on what you are currently doing and customize interruptions from other apps, notifications, and users.
Apple is also introducing the new Quick Note feature that lets you add links, and Safari highlights. You can organize tags, thumbnails, and shared notes. It will appear together with your Notes app.
macOS Monterey features Universal Control. Now, you can work across your Apple devices. It is easy to integrate your Mac and iPad using only a single keyboard and more or trackpad. Other features will include Live Text, Shortcuts App, 3D Maps, iCloud+, and more.
How to Know What macOS You are Running

- On your Mac, go to the upper left corner.
- Click the Apple logo.
- Select About This Mac.
- A new window will pop up showing the current macOS you are using.

Unfortunately, there are only a handful of selected iMac and MacBook devices that are supported to run the latest macOS Monterey OS from Apple. How to Update your Mac to macOS 12 Monterey
