Describing Facebook as a popular platform is no doubt an understatement. The truth is that it has become so humungous that almost everyone in the world is on Facebook.
Thanks to its robustness and expansive reach, Facebook offers marketers an amazing opportunity to reach out to targeted audiences.

Unfortunately, if you’re someone who doesn’t like navigating complex systems or you are somewhat a beginner to using the platform, no one can blame you if you find yourself frustrated with Facebook ads.Â
If you’re getting the error message telling you that your ad targeting doesn’t match not just on Facebook but also on Instagram, don’t just sulk and surrender there and then. There are a few things you can do to ensure that your ad strategy doesn’t go to waste and that your ad content delivers the results you expect from them.
How Does Ad Targeting Work on Facebook and Instagram
Advertising tools on social media giants Facebook and Instagram allow marketers to create ad campaigns while targeting specific groups and individuals.
Since ads will only be effective if you show them to the right people at the right time, the secret to preventing audience decay and ad fatigue is to choose your audience properly in the first place.
You are more likely to reach people who show interest in engaging with your product, service, or brand if your Facebook audience is more customized, resulting in more sales and increased ROI.
Learning the ropes of targeting ads on Facebook will help you ensure that your ad will be right before the eyes of the right people by clearly identifying and categorizing Facebook users.
Ways to Fix ‘Ad Targeting Does Not Match’ Error Message on Facebook and Instagram

When you’re using an already existing post on your Facebook Page to produce an ad in Meta Ads Manager, the language and location targeting settings of your new ad should match those of your original post.
The error message “Ad Targeting Does Not Match” will show up and you won’t be able to have your ad published if the language and location targeting don’t match.
For instance, if you need to make an ad from your existing Facebook Page with the location set as United States and with the language set as English, the new ad you make should also have the same location and language, that is, United States and English respectively.
If the language and location don’t match, you need to edit the ad set audience so that your language and location settings will be updated.
But if your existing post on your Facebook Page and your new ad is already matched but you’re still getting the error message, your last and best resort is to contact the support team.
Just choose the help icon located in the lower-left corner of the Ads Manager to contact support and choose the option Contact support team located on the right.
Getting the “Ad Targeting Does Not Match” error message on Facebook and Instagram can be very annoying. But all you have to do is to follow the simple process above and you’ll be good to go.
