However, some users complain that the PIA VPN client on Windows computer is not working, not loading, or not connecting to the server. How to Fix & Resolve Can’t Reach the VPN Server Error on Private Internet Access (PIA) using Windows 10/11 Computer
VPN servers need to work with your current Internet network connection. Given that, it can be an issue with your Internet Service Provider (ISP). In some instances, there may be a problem with the Private Internet Access server location you are currently using, or the issue lies with the PIA VPN client itself. If you can’t access or connect to any PIA server, let’s check out below what you can do to fix it.
Method #1 – Try a Different VPN Server Location
First, refresh your VPN server location by turning it off and turning it back on after a few seconds. Check if it loads the webpage or shows you the error message. If you still see the error, try switching to a different VPN server location. Make sure you are using a US location, especially if you want to open a streaming platform.
Method #2 – Check your Local Internet Connection Network
As stated above, it can be a problem with your ISP. Do a speed test of your local Internet network and check if you have a good connection or not. You can refresh your WiFi network by turning the router and modem off. Wait for a few minutes before turning them back on and reconnect your VPN server.
Try to improve your WiFI Internet network signal by placing your computer near your router or bypass the router and connect directly to your modem. If you have a poor network connection, contact your provider and ask about the problem.
Method #3 – Switch your PIA VPN Tunneling Protocol
- On your Private Internet Access VPN app, go to the Settings menu.
- Select Connection.
- On the right side, look for the Protocol option.
- If you are using OpenVPN, switch to WireGuard. If you use WireGuard, select OpenVPN.
Method #4 – Disable IPv6
- On your desktop toolbar menu, look for the WiFi icon and right-click on it.
- Select Open Network and Sharing Center.
- Click Change adapter options.
- Look for your active network adapters such as WiFi or Ethernet and right-click on it.
- Select Properties.
- Look for Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6 and uncheck the box.
- Click OK.
Method #5 – Reinstall your PIA VPN Client
If the other methods above do not work, you can uninstall and reinstall the PIA VPN desktop client on your Windows 10 or 11 PC.
- Launch the Control Panel of your Windows 10/11 PC.
- Go to Programs.
- Select Programs and Features.
- Look for the Private Internet Access app and highlight it.
- Click the Uninstall button.
