Troubleshooting Tips for Zoom Error Code 104124, 104123 or 104118

If you’ve been constantly being bugged by any of these errors, several solutions may help fix the Zoom issue:

Give or Allow Zoom Access on Windows Firewall

Your computer’s Windows Firewall is the first security layer of your device against malware as well as other suspicious and malicious apps. It means that the Firewall is probably the one that prevents Zoom from establishing a server connection.

The easiest solution here is to allow access or give Zoom permission on Windows Firewall so that the app can function freely. Follow the steps below to do this:

  1. Click the Windows icon at the lower left part of the screen.
  2. Use the search bar to look for Control Panel then hit enter.
  3. Proceed to the System and Security Tab.
  4. Choose Windows Defender Firewall.
  5. Click “Allow an app or feature through Windows Firewall” from the list of available settings on the left.
  6. Select Change Settings.
  7. Choose Zoom from the list of features and apps.
  8. Allow Permission on Windows Defender Firewall.
  9. Apply the new settings.

Temporarily Disable Firewall and Antivirus

Your device’s firewall and antivirus might also restrict Zoom and stop it from functioning properly, resulting in error codes 104124, 104123, or 104118. The best way to solve the problem is to temporarily disable your firewall and antivirus.

  1. Tap the Windows key on the keyboard. You can also click the Start icon at the lower left part of the screen.
  2. Type Settings in the search bar then hit enter.
  3. Look for and launch Update and Security.
  4. Click Windows Security from the available options.
  5. Choose Virus and Threat Protection.
  6. Proceed to the tab for Manage Settings.
  7. Look for the Real-time Protection setting and set the toggle to Off.

Open the Zoom app again and try to join the session once more to check if the error code is gone.

Check Your Internet Connection

Since Zoom error codes 104124, 104123, and 104118 often show up because of connectivity and server issues, the slow speed of your internet connection might likely be the culprit behind the issue.

To check your WiFi’s internet speed and network status, here’s what to do:

  1. Start by disconnecting all devices connected to your WiFi.
  2. Connect a device to your WiFi and open any web browser on it.
  3. Proceed to any website where you can check your internet speed and network connection.

Doing this will show you your internet connection’s current status. If your internet speed is slower than usual, you can contact your internet service provider for assistance.

The next time you encounter error codes 104124, 104123, and 104118 on Zoom, the steps above may help you get rid of the issue right away.
