Microsoft Edge is one of the popular browsers many people are using these days. However, some users claim that their mouse wheel is not working when they are scrolling on their Edge browser. It is easy to use the mouse for browsing but if it does not work, a lot of users become frustrated.

Fixing Mouse Wheel Scrolling Issues on Microsoft Edge

Solution #1 – Run Bluetooth Troubleshooter

Using a Bluetooth mouse is convenient and eliminates the wires on your computer table. If you are using a Bluetooth mouse, you can run a troubleshooter to help fix the error.

  1. Open the Settings.
  2. Go to Update & Security.
  3. Click Troubleshoot.
  4. Select Bluetooth.
  5. Click Run the troubleshooter.
  6. It will scan for possible bugs and fix the error.

Solution #2 – Remove Your Mouse

If you are using a wired mouse, you can remove it from your computer and try to plug it again. If you are using a Bluetooth mouse, you can remove it completely as your connected device and try to pair it again.

Solution #3 – Update Your Mouse Driver

It helps if you are using the latest version of your mouse driver. If there are updates that you have not installed yet, try to install them immediately.

  1. Go to your Device Manager.
  2. Look for Mice and other pointing devices and expand.
  3. Look for your mouse driver and right-click to open the menu.
  4. Select Update Driver.

Solution #4 – Reinstall Your Mouse Driver

Another way is to uninstall and reinstall your mouse driver.

  1. Again, go to the Device Manager and select Mice and other pointing devices.
  2. Right-click on your mouse driver.
  3. Select Uninstall Device.
  4. Restart your computer.
  5. Windows will try to reinstall your mouse driver. Otherwise, you can check your manufacturer’s website and install the driver.

Solution #5 – Clear Your Edge’s Cache

  1. Open your Edge browser.
  2. On the top right corner, click the three-dotted icon.
  3. Click Settings.
  4. Go to Privacy, search and services.
  5. Look for Clear browsing data.
  6. Click Choose what to clear.

  8. Click Clear.
  9. Restart your Browser.

Solution #6 – Enable Scroll Inactive Windows

  1. Go to Settings.
  2. Click Device and go to Mouse.
  3. Look for Scroll inactive windows when I hover over them and toggle the button to Off.
  4. Restart your computer.
  5. Using the same process, go to Scroll inactive windows when I hover over them.
  6. Now, toggle the button to On.
