How to Troubleshoot & Resolve OneDrive Syncing Issues with Upload Pending Error Message on Microsoft Word

It can be frustrating to experience a problem when you need to secure your Microsoft Word files or documents and upload them to a cloud storage. But, these Microsoft OneDrive syncing issues happen due to a number of reasons.

There may be an error with your Internet network connection or your OneDrive mobile or desktop app. You can try to troubleshoot the problem and stop or resolve the error with several solutions and fixes below.

Solution #1 – Check your Internet Network Connection

Do a speed test to see if you have a reliable Internet signal. You can try to improve your WiFi network connection signal by elevating your wireless router or bringing your device closer to it. Another way is to perform a power cycle on your network and mobile or desktop devices.

  • Exit all running apps in the background and shut down your device.
  • Unplug your router and modem for at least 3 minutes.
  • Plug them back in and turn on your device.
  • Relaunch Microsoft Word and try to resume uploading.

Solution #2 – Set the Full Control over the Document

  • Navigate to the file location of your document.
  • Look for your file and right-click on it.
  • Select Properties.
  • Head over to the Security tab.
  • Select Advanced.
  • Go to the Owner description.
  • Click the Change button.
  • Select Advanced.
  • Click Find Now.
  • Select the owner to whom you want to give full control.
  • Click OK.
  • Close the window.
  • Head over to your file and right-click on it.
  • Select Properties.
  • Navigate to the Security tab.
  • Choose Advanced.
  • Click Add.
  • Go to the Principal description.
  • Click Select a Principal.
  • Choose Advanced.
  • Select Find Now.
  • Click your account.
  • Click OK.
  • Check the box next to Full Control.
  • Click OK.
  • Click Apply.
  • Click OK.

Solution #3 – Change the File Name of your Document

  • On your Microsoft Word application, click File.
  • Go to Save As.
  • Select OneDrive as your storage location.
  • Rename your file.
  • Click the Save button.

Solution #4 – Delete com.microsoft.Word Folder

  • Close all Microsoft Office apps.
  • Launch Finder.
  • Click Go.
  • When you see a drop-down menu, press the Option key on your keyboard.
  • Click the Library folder.
  • Select Containers.
  • Look for the com.microsoft.Word folder and delete it.
  • Relaunch Microsoft Word.

Solution #5 – Perform a Repair Method on Microsoft Word using the PC Tool

  • Launch the Settings menu of your Windows 10 or 11 PC.
  • Go to Apps.
  • Select Apps & Features.
  • Look for Microsoft Office and click the three-dotted icon next to it.
  • Select Modify.
  • Choose Online Repair.
  • Click Repair.
  • Select Repair.

Solution #6 – Update your Microsoft Word App

  • On your Microsoft Word, click File.
  • Go to Account.
  • Select Update Options.
  • Choose Update Now.
