How to Fix Telegram Web App Not Working on Chrome & Other Browsers

Are you using the Telegram web app to connect with your friends and family? Many people make Telegram their default messaging app. They have the option to use it as a mobile app or a desktop version. Users can also connect and access their accounts via web browsers such as Google Chrome.

However, there are times when the Telegram web client is not working or connecting on Chrome or other mainstream browsers. It can be a problem with your Internet network connection or the Telegram server itself.

When this happens, links are not opening and images or chats are not loading on Telegram web when using Google Chrome. However, you can open your messages. The issue also appears on other Chromium-based web browsers such as Microsoft Edge, Opera, and Brave. Mozilla Firefox and Safari users may also experience the problem.

Ways to Troubleshoot & Fix Telegram Web App Not Working on Google Chrome or Other Browsers

If you encounter the same issues where the Telegram links, chats, or images are not working on your web browser, you can try to troubleshoot it with several solutions. You can find below methods that will help you resolve the problem with the cloud-based messaging app.

Solution #1 – Verify the Server Status of Telegram

There may be an internal issue with the server of Telegram Web hence the error you face. On another tab, go to DownDetector.com and search for Telegram. You will see if the server is down or not.

Solution #2 – Log Out and Login In of your Telegram Web Account

  • Go to the top left corner of Telegram Web and click the three-lined icon.
  • Choose Settings.
  • Click the three-dotted icon.
  • Select Logout.
  • Now, try to log back into your account.

Solution #3 – Perform a Power Cycle on your Device

  • Exit your web browser and close other running apps on your device.
  • Power off your device and unplug your router and modem.
  • Wait for a few minutes.
  • Plug your modem and router back in and connect to the Internet.
  • Turn on your device and relaunch your browser.

Solution #4 – Clear the Browser Cache

  • On your Google Chrome browser, click the three-dotted icon in the upper right corner.
  • Navigate to More Tools.
  • Click Clear Browsing Data.
  • Set the Time Range to All Time.
  • Click the box next to Cached images and files.
  • Click Clear Data.

For other browsers, you can find the Clear Browsing Data option under Settings, Privacy, or History.

Solution #5 – Do a Speed Test on your Internet Connection

Check the status of your network connection. Sometimes, your Internet speed is not within the minimum requirement of Telegram Web. You can try to improve your network connection or contact your provider.

Solution #6 – Disable your VPN Connection

If you use a VPN server on your browser, you can disable it temporarily and try reloading Telegram Web. You can also turn off the proxy server in your device settings.

Solution #7 – Disable Browser Extension on Google Chrome

  • On your Chrome browser, click the three-dotted icon.
  • Select More Tools.
  • Go to Extensions.
  • Now, look for the extension that may be causing the error and disable it.

Solution #8 – Report the Issue to Telegram Support
