Wyze cameras have been all the rage among those who are looking for a good quality security camera but are on a tight budget. Despite their affordable price tags, these devices are packed with most features you can find in higher-end options.

Unfortunately, these cameras are not without faults. Just like most devices, they encounter issues now and then. One common concern among users is that their Wyze camera often gets stuck on the Ready to Connect error message but the device won’t start or connect to WiFi network.

How to Fix Wyze Camera Stuck on Ready to Connect But Won’t Connect to WiFi Network Error

Good thing that it only takes a few simple steps to fix this network problem if your Wyze camera is stuck on ready to connect but won’t connect to your WiFi network.

Check the Settings of Your Router

Your Wyze cam is probably stuck because of issues with your internet connection. Many routers today let you choose to broadcast a signal at 5GHz or 2.4GHz. Although 5GHz may be an exciting new setting that seems like it is better, it is not always the case.

Just so you know, most modern smart devices are only meant to work on the 2.4GHz band. This might explain why your Wyze cam is stuck. Fix the problem by going to the router settings and switching to the 2.4GHz from the 5GHz band.

Power Cycle Your Wyze Camera

A reboot is often all it takes to remove errors and bugs from your system. Power cycling your Wyze cam will let it establish a fresh connection to your home internet.

  • To do this, simply unplug your device from its source of power.
  • Wait for 30 seconds or so before you plug it back again.
  • Proceed with the setup procedure and check if it fixes the issue.

Turn Off MAC Filtering

As mentioned earlier, router settings might prevent you from connecting your new devices and these are called MAC filters. You have to check if the filters are disabled or have been set up in such a way that lets your Wyze cam access your network.

  1. Launch your web browser and enter the IP address of your router into the search bar.
  2. Use your credentials to log in.
  3. Look for and click the MAC filtering option or network filter option, depending on the router you use.

From there, you will see if there is an option that lets you remove or customize the MAC filter. You can either switch off the filter completely or specifically allow access to your Wyze cam.

Once done, you will be able to connect your camera without any issues. But if the problem is still there, the camera itself might be at fault.

Reset or Restore your Wyze Cam to its Default Factory Settings

Sometimes, all it takes to fix the problem is to reset to restore your Wyze camera to its original settings and get rid of what caused it in the first place, which is the installation process in this case. Here’s how to do it:

  1. If an SD card is installed, start by unplugging it first from the slot.
  2. Press the Setup button and hold it for 15 to 20- seconds.
  3. Release the button and wait for 20 to 40 seconds. The device should beep and inform you that the reset will begin.
  4. The reset is complete once the LEDs turn blue or red if you are using a Wyze cam V3.
  5. Start the installation process again and check if it fixes the problem.

Seeing that your Wyze camera is stuck on Ready to Connect might feel a bit frustrating. But before you panic, try to follow the steps above and say goodbye to the issue.
