While it offered an interesting way of socializing and learning, it may not be working well with some users, especially those with difficulty in hearing or when audio issues hit you. Now, Clubhouse is bringing a new upgrade that will cater to those who prefer to have a better understanding of the conversations through live text. The Clubhouse is adding live captions on its app that will bring real-time text transcriptions to its users.

Unfortunately, the live closed captioning tool on the Clubhouse audio mobile app is only available on iPhone as of the moment. Android users may not yet enjoy the added feature on the platform, but the social media company said that it is working on the update and it will be coming soon.

The Clubhouse app for iOS devices will feature 13 languages for a start using the real-time live transcription service. It will include Arabic, Cantonese, English, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Mandarin Chinese, Russian, Spanish, Turkish, and Yue Chinese. The Clubhouse will be adding more languages in the future.

The live captions will work based on automatic language detection. You may notice some flaws with it, especially when jumping from one room to another. But, Clubhouse engineers are tweaking it and making the tool a solid feature to reckon with.

To enable and use the live closed captions or subtitles on your Clubhouse app, you need to install the latest software version of the iOS app on your iPhone mobile device.

  • First, launch the Apple App Store on your iPhone.
  • At the bottom of the screen, tap the Updates button.
  • Look for the Clubhouse app.
  • Tap the Update button next to it.
  • Wait for the installation to finish.
  • Once done, open the Clubhouse app and check the live captions.
