As a Facebook account owner, one of your top responsibilities is to ensure that no one else but you has access to your account. After all, you’ve got a lot of important and even sensitive information on your Facebook account and the last thing you want is to find out that there are logins that you didn’t make yourself.

Active sessions are a great way for you to check if you didn’t log out of your account from another device or public computer and if someone else who doesn’t have authorized access is using it.

Every entry of active sessions contains details like the time, date, and approximate registration place. It also includes the browser, operating system, and type of device used to access the account.

If you forgot to log out from a public computer after using your Facebook account or you suspect that someone else is trying to access your account, learning how to check past logins and remove active sessions on Facebook is important.

Steps to Check Your Past Facebook Logins

Here are the steps for checking your past logins on Facebook:

  1. Log in to your account on Facebook.
  2. Click the gear icon located in the screen’s upper right corner.
  3. A drop-down menu will appear. Choose Account Settings from it.
  4. Tap on the Security tab.
  5. Select Active Sessions that you can find in the lower part of the page for Privacy Settings. It will bring up a list of all your past and current Facebook logins, which include the location where the logins took place, the time and day of the login, and the specific type of device used to access the account.
  6. Choose the End Activity link found on the right part of the login so you can instantly log out from the said location. This action should only be done for unrecognized logins.

You can view all the active sessions on your Facebook account from the security panel in the account settings and remotely log out of the sessions you like to end. The session’s approximate location is shown together with the operating system and browser used to start the session.

There are instances when you might try logging into your Facebook account from another non-personal device, a friend’s phone or PC, or even from an internet café. But there are times when you just leave the session as it is or forget to even log out.

It’s a security breach and someone might end up hacking your account if you aren’t too careful. If this is the case, it is not enough that you just check your past logins. You also need to remove the active sessions that aren’t yours in the first place.

Here’s how to do it:

  1. Go and log in to your Facebook account.
  2. Choose the settings dropdown in the upper right corner and choose Account Settings.
  3. Select Security located on the left sidebar.
  4. Choose Edit right beside Active Sessions so you can view all the active sessions.
  5. All Facebook login activities will be displayed on the right panel.
  6. You can end the active sessions by clicking the three dots and then clicking the Logout option.

Checking past logins and removing active sessions on your Facebook account is important for security purposes. Follow the steps above to do this so you can protect your privacy at all cost.
