Subtitles are helpful. They help you understand the character dialogues in a movie or show better. They offer translation when you want to watch an interesting movie but from a different language.

Still, not all subtitles are useful when you are already watching a movie that uses your own language. Some users find it annoying and diverting since their eyes are divided between the picture and the words below it.

  1. This is the first time I have a complain about my roku plus. It seems to be a problem of the Disney+ app on Roku because it works very well on Netflix. I want to select language (audio and subtitles) un a movie by movie base and not as a default for the device.
For Netflix you just press the up arrow and you access de language control.
The same Disney channel on a Apple device works fine as well.

  2. I have selected “captions off”. At some point it changed. Now my screen reads
    Always on
    On replay
    On mute

Frustrating to say the least. If I go set captions to “off” I am unable to change the rest for example:
    On replay
    On mute
One I go back and set Captions mode to off, I have turned the tv off, hoping to reset it. I choose CBS new and voila the captions are back on. In order to stop it on this channel I choose the star button, turn off captions and it does while the program is playing I have to do this each and every time.
This was not how the tv worked foe the first mi th I had it. I am ready to say Fthis and take it back and get a firestick tv no issues with those!!!
