Amazon is making a huge blast with not just one but two launches with its Fire TV Stick device. The Fire TV Stick streaming device will have a new upgrade from 2nd generation to a new and improved 3rd generation TV stick. But, Amazon is not stopping with only one Fire TV Stick. The giant tech company is also launching its first Amazon Fire TV Stick Lite.

Both the Fire TV Stick and the Fire TV Stick Lite is set for release at the end of the month. Many users claim that both Fire TV Sticks are identical not just in the way they look but with their functions, as well. The 3rd generation Fire TV Stick is available at $39.99 while the Fire TV Stick Lite is priced at a much lower $29.99.

Is it worth the additional $10 for the Fire TV Stick? What makes Fire TV Stick different from Fire TV Stick Lite?

Difference Between Amazon Fire TV Stick 3rd Generation and Fire TV Stick Lite

Design

If you look at the two streaming devices, you will see little difference in terms of design, build and look. Both devices have a weight of 1.1 ounces. They have the same dimensions, which is 3.4 x 1.2 x 0.5-inch. According to Amazon, the two Fire TV Stick streaming devices are made of 100% recycled die-cast aluminum. However, you will see that there is a different button on the Fire TV Stick and on the Fire TV Stick Lite.

Price

As mentioned above, there is a $10 difference between the two TV stick devices. If the price is a deciding factor, the Fire TV Stick Lite is a better option.

Picture Quality

Watching movies and TV shows on both Fire TV Stick devices offer 1080p Full HD video output. They also support other video standards such as HDR, HDR 10, HDR10+, and HLG.

Audio

The Fire TV Stick Lite uses the Dolby Audio using a pass-through HDMI while the Fire TV Stick uses the Dolby Atmos Audio. The Dolby Atmos Audio offers better sound quality especially if you have a multi-channel sound system. If the sound quality is a big factor for you, you may choose the upgraded Fire TV Stick 3rd generation.

Storage Capacity

Both the Fire TV Stick and Fire TV Stick Lite have 8 GB storage space.

Remote Function

The Fire TV Stick uses Alexa Voice Remote and integrates TV control buttons. The Fire TV Stick Lite, however, also uses Alexa Voice Remote but has no TV controls. On the other hand, it has a Guide button that launches the Live TV Guide. If you don’t want to use two remote controls, bypassing the Guide button may be worth it for the TV controls.

That’s it! You can see that there are a few differences between the Fire TV Stick and the Fire TV Stick Lite but for some users, the added difference is worth their additional $10. Still, it all depends on what is more important for you.
