Instagram is bringing new updates that will make you get hooked on social media more. Instead of browsing more suggested posts when you are catching up with the latest updates on your home feed, you get to see more recent posts from the people you follow. Instagram offers Favorites and Following features in Chronological Timeline. Let’s talk more about them below.
In the early years of Instagram, people loved the idea of seeing posts from the people they are following. Every new user updates get to come up on the home feed, so users can see the latest news. However, Instagram removed the algorithm feature in 2016, leaving users with more recommended posts.
Now, Meta, the giant social media company behind the platform is bringing its feed’s chronological timeline back and is adding another awesome feature to go with it. The Following update will show you recent posts from the people you choose to follow. But, if you have people whose posts you do not want to miss, you can add them to your Favorites list. Favorites will feature recent updates of people you choose to curate. These posts will appear higher in your feed.
How to Change & Activate the Instagram Timeline Feed’s Chronological Order Option
All recent posts under Following and Favorites will now appear in chronological order, so you know what is more recent in your timeline. For Favorites, there are no notifications sent to other users if you add them to the list. You can only have up to 50 accounts limit to set under Favorites.
So, how to change and enable the chronological timeline feature to view your feeds in your Instagram account? Check out the steps below.
To initiate the switch, first, you need to install the latest version update on your Instagram app. Launch the Google Play Store for Android phones or App Store for iOS devices. Search for Instagram or go to Manage Apps. Tap the Update button and restart your device.
- After updating, launch the Instagram app on your device.
- Tap the Instagram title in the upper left corner.
- You will then see the Following and the Favorites.
How to Add Users to Instagram’s Favorites Feed
Now that you know how Favorites and Following work, you may wonder how to add your friends and favorite people under Favorites. Here is what you need to do.
- Tap the Instagram title on the top left corner of the app.
- Beside the Favorites name, tap the Star sign.
- You will see a list of your friends. If you are looking for specific people, use the search bar to enter their names.
- Tap the Add button next to the name of the user you want to add.
