Kids these days know how to use the Internet. They can browse their favorite TV shows or movies. Older kids also know how to search for different topics online. As much as we want our children to broaden their knowledge and enjoy kid-friendly entertainment, the Internet contains unsafe content that may appear while they are browsing.

To be on the safe side and block unrelated contents, Microsoft Edge launched the Kids Mode on their browser. The tool is available on Microsoft Edge 90 and newer versions on Windows 10 PC and macOS computers. Right now, only users in the US can take advantage of the feature but global rollout will happen soon.

One of the benefits of using the Kids Mode on Microsoft Edge is the age range. Parents can set the kid’s age using the browser settings, especially if the children have huge age gaps. For instance, content and themes ideal for age 7 is not appealing to kids at the age of 12.

By default, the Age Range is set to Disable on the chromium-based Microsoft Edge browser. You can set up the tool and enable it so that Microsoft Edge can determine the content to show based on the kid’s age. Still, the browser will show Bing SafeSearch and a kid-friendly theme regardless of age. It will continue to protect them and restrict websites that may be harmful to children.

  • First, launch your Microsoft Edge chromium browser.
  • On the top right corner, click the three-dotted icon.
  • Select Settings.
  • Scroll down and select Family.
  • Click Kids Mode.
  • Look for Always ask to choose the age range before starting Kids Mode.
  • Toggle the option to Enable. To disable the tool, you can follow the same process and toggle it to Disable.
