Restart Your Phone

Before you try anything else, restart your iPhone or Android device. A quick reboot can clear out minor glitches that may be causing McDonald’s app problems.

  • On an iPhone, hold down the side button and either volume button until you see the power off slider. Slide to turn your phone completely off.
  • On an Android, hold down the power button for about 30 seconds until you get the power off prompt. Tap it to reboot your device.

Give your phone a minute or two to restart, then open the McDonald’s app again. This quick reset often resolves app crashing and freezing issues.

Update the Android or iOS App

An outdated version of the McDonald’s app could be the culprit behind login problems or constant crashes. Updating to the latest version of the app can fix bugs and optimize performance.

  • On an iPhone: Open the App Store, tap your profile icon, and check for any available updates. Install any pending McDonald’s app updates.
  • On an Android: Open the Play Store, tap the hamburger menu, and go to My Apps & Games. Check if the McDonald’s app needs an update. Tap Update to get the latest version.

Once updated, try using the McDonald’s app again to see if it now works properly. Keeping your apps updated ensures you have the latest features and fixes.

Clear App Cache and Data on your Phone

Over time, cached data and junk files can accumulate in apps and cause performance issues. For an easy fix, clear the cache and data for the McDonald’s app. This removes corrupt files that may be interrupting normal functioning.

On an Android:

  • Go to Settings > Apps.
  • Select the McDonald’s app.
  • Tap Storage, then Clear Cache and Clear Data.

On an iPhone:

  • Go to Settings > General > iPhone Storage.
  • Select the McDonald’s app and tap Offload App to clear data.

After clearing the cache/data, relaunch the McDonald’s app. Deleting the temporary data forces the app to generate fresh files which can fix glitches.

Sign Out and Sign Back In

Corrupted account data could prevent you from signing in or cause the app to crash on startup. Try signing out of your McDonald’s account and signing back in with your credentials.

  • Open the McDonald’s app and tap the profile icon
  • Select Sign Out to logout completely
  • Enter your email/phone and password to sign in again

Signing out resets your account data and often resolves account-related McDonald’s app problems if corrupted files were causing issues.

Check for Service Outages

In rare cases, the McDonald’s app may stop working due to server outages and other service disruptions. Before you troubleshoot further, check sites like Downdetector to see if others are reporting problems.

Major outages will prevent the McDonald’s app from functioning properly until the technical issues are resolved. Try the app again later if you see indications of widespread downtime.

Uninstall and Reinstall the McDonald’s App on your Mobile Device

If you still can’t get the McDonald’s app to work after trying the above steps, reinstalling the app may do the trick. Delete and re-download the app to eliminate any corrupted files.

  • On an iPhone: Hold down on the McDonald’s app icon until it starts jiggling. Tap the X icon to delete. Go to the App Store and reinstall.
  • On an Android: Go to Settings > Apps, select McDonald’s, and choose Uninstall. Open the Play Store and search for McDonald’s to reinstall.

Reinstalling gives you a fresh copy of the app which often solves persistent crashing, freezing, and login problems after other troubleshooting steps fail.
