However, with the recent iOS 15 software update on iPhone devices, many Apple users reported an issue with their Spotify app. According to complaint reports, users experience a rapid battery drain problem on their iPhones to a significant percentage.

When they use the Spotify app on their Apple smartphone device, it drains 30% of their battery life within an hour. Some users claim that their battery drain is 60% when they open the music streaming app, which is a lot. The excessive and too much power usage also causes an overheat on iPhone’s battery when using Spotify.

Despite the full hours of charging their batteries, some users experience the high battery draining and overheating every time they open the Spotify app. Now, this incident happens after users updated their iOS firmware to the recent iOS 15 operating system. Still, users who are on iOS 14.8 also encounter the Spotify problem.

Though users complain about the battery drain issue on their iPhones when streaming songs on Spotify, some people also note problems when they open Apple Music. They are unable to access their libraries. However, Apple already rolled out a quick update fixing the Apple Music error with iOS 15.

How Do I Fix the iOS App Issue & Stop Spotify from Draining my iPhone’s Battery?

Spotify released a report indicating their awareness of the iPhone battery issue. While Spotify is still finding out the cause of the problem and investigating how to resolve it, they suggested several troubleshooting tips to help fix the issue temporarily.

Restart the Spotify App

You may want to exit the Spotify app and relaunch it. However, try to wait for at least 2 minutes before you restart the app. If it does not work, you can turn off your iPhone and reboot it before launching the Spotify app.

Disable the Background App Refresh

  • On your Spotify music streaming app, navigate to the Settings menu.
  • Go to General.
  • Select Background App Refresh.
  • Turn off the feature.

Reinstall the Spotify App

  • From the home screen, look for the Spotify app icon.
  • Touch and hold the icon.
  • Now, select Remove App.
  • Tap Delete App.
  • Tap Delete again.
  • Launch the App Store.
  • Search for Spotify and install the app.

Use Spotify Offline Mode

  • Go to the home screen of your Spotify app.
  • Navigate to Settings.
  • Select Playback.
  • Look for the Offline option.
  • Switch it to On.

Update your Spotify App

  • Go to the Apple App Store on your iPhone.
  • On the top of the screen, select your profile.
  • Look for Spotify.
  • Now, tap Update next to it.
