Now, if want to listen to any song on your playlist, you can do so thanks to Spotify Shuffle. You may even listen to an old song you have forgotten for years. Unfortunately, many users complained that the shuffle repeats and plays the same songs most of the time. Instead of shuffling all the songs in your playlist, only a few selected songs are repeated.

Some solutions can help you fix the problem on your Spotify. Read below to find out how.

How to Troubleshoot Playlist Playback Issue and Fix Spotify Shuffle Mode Keeps Repeating Same Songs Over and Over Again

Solution #1 – Sign out and Sign in to your Account Again

  1. First, you need to log out of your account. Go to Your Library.
  2. At the top right corner, select Settings.
  3. Tap the Log Out button.
  4. Close the Spotify app.
  5. Relaunch the app and log in to your account.

Solution #2 – Avoid Hitting the Like Button

If you keep hitting the Like button (the green heart button), Spotify’s algorithms will take it as your preferred taste in music and will only play songs related to it. You can still build your playlist without hitting the Like or Heart button, so the app will play all the songs.

Solution #3 – Sort Your Spotify Playlist

How you compiled and sort your playlist can affect what Spotify is playing for you. You may need to sort your playlist so that the app can play all the songs, especially the newly added ones.

  1. Go to the playlist that you want to sort.
  2. Tap the three-dotted button to open a menu and select Sort playlist.
  3. Now, you can sort it based on the Title, Artist, Album, Recently Added or Custom.

Solution #4 – Update the Spotify App

  1. Maybe your Spotify app does not have the latest available version. To update your Spotify app, go to the App Store on iOS or the Google Play Store on Android.
    • For the App Store, tap Updates and look for Spotify.
    • For the Google Play Store, go to My apps & games and look for Spotify.
  2. Tap Update, if there is an available update that you can download.

Solution #5 – Turn on Repeat

  1. First, tap the Shuffle Play button.
  2. Now, look for the 2 arrows or the Repeat button and tap it. Take note that there is another button with 2 arrows but with a number one. This button will only repeat the same songs. Look for the 2 arrows only in a circle.

  1. It needs to play every song in the list before repeating and it needs to remember where it was when you leave the list and come back, otherwise I’ll take the the first option that offers that.

  2. This is the most annoying problem with Spotify. I have done everything recommended – redownload, log out/log in, hit the repeat button…nothing works. I still hear the same 25 songs over and over again. Help!

  3. I have over 1000 songs but keep hearing the same songs on shuffle. I’ve probably never heard half the songs onmy playlist. Is there a better option than Spotify?

  4. Spotify still does the same garbage to me as of oct 2022. It’s been like that for years. I begin to believe it’s shitty by design. They probably get to pay artists less for repeated plays or something.

  5. I’ve done all the recommendations beside the sort. I don’t see this option on my Spotify. I’m in Canada and sometimes apps are different. But anyway the issues are the same. I’m up to cancel my subscription and try Apple Music.
It’s unbelievable this issue and it’s not possible that they don’t it and don’t even try to fix it. My issue gets worse when I’m leaving the house discounting from Sonos and connecting to the car. Repeats and repeats
