We all get used to how Microsoft Word looks. Its simplicity makes it more efficient for us to work on our documents and files. But, did you happen to encounter a huge change of color on your Microsoft Word document page? You will see a transparent or inverted page on all the colors that you once loved and used on the Word processor.

If this happens to you, there is nothing you need to worry about. Microsoft recently launched a feature release that gives Microsoft Office suite app users an option to switch to the black theme or darker version of their MS Word application. The dark mode feature is available both on desktop and mobile apps. It may be a sudden change and without a warning. But, nothing says better than to experience it first hand.

How to Change Transparent or Inverted Page Colors & Fix the Issue in Microsoft Word

The Dark Mode version of Microsoft Word gives you black colour as the background and transparent text on the software application. Unlike the classic mode where everything is white with the text in black colors, it is the other way around when using the Dark Mode in MS Word.

It may not be a preference to some users, but the dark mode also has its benefits. Seeing things in a darker color is easier on the eyes and gives a refreshing appeal. It is also effective in saving battery consumption.

There are two options to disable the Dark Mode and revert back to classic light mode on Microsoft Word. You can turn off Dark Mode on one document or all files. Here’s how to do it:

  1. I’m severely sight impaired and this new ‘proper’ dark mode with the inverted page colours is fantastic. Please press Microsoft to do the same with Excel spreadsheets!
