How to Update TCL Android TV Device Software or Firmware

TCL has recently announced some good news to its 2019 and 2020 Android TV models. Users will enjoy the Android 11 update on their smart TVs with added features for a better streaming experience. Soon, US and Europe TV models will have the update sometime in 2021.

The Android 11 update will upgrade Android TV models close to the Google TV system. A new device software version on your TV always brings in new features that will make your streaming experience better.

  • Cinematic ads
  • New Subscribe and Install Option in Google Play Store

  • ALLM for apps
  • Performance Improvements
  • Gboard TV keyboard – with speech-to-text function and predictive typing

The Android 11 update is the closest to Google TV in terms of features and UI. Users will have the latest entertainment software with easier and more enhanced personalization and curation. Google will eventually replace the Android TV operating system with Google TV on your favorite smart TVs.

TCL 2021 TV models in Europe will run with Google TV while the TCL partnership with Roku will bring Google TV-powered smart TVs in the US this year.

  1. Sorry, but recent (Feb 2021) firmware update on my TCL 55C715 has broken several features and resulted in worse performance. I’m locked in a back and forth battle with TCL support at present trying to resolve the issues. Certainly wouldn’t trust them to roll out a bug free Android 11 update! And will never buy another TCL product.
