How to Check and Automatically Install Available Firmware Updates on TCL Roku TV
While Roku automatically installs updates to your TCL TV, you can also check and initiate installing it if there are new updates available.

- On your TCL Roku TV, navigate to the Settings Menu.
- Go to System.
- Select System Update.
- Click Check Now.
- Press Update Now if there are available updates to install.
Manually Install Software Updates on TCL Roku TV using a USB Drive
Now, if updates are not automatically installed to your TCL Roku TV, you can manually update it with the use of a USB flash drive. There are two things you need to manually install the updates to your TCL Roku TV. One is a standard USB 2.0 flash drive 256MB and up. Another is your Roku Model number.
How to Get your TCL Roku TV Model Number

- To get your Roku Model number, go to your TCL Roku TV.
- On your remote, press the Home button.
- Navigate to Settings.
- Select System.
- Click System Update.
- Select I can’t connect. Your Roku number will appear on the screen. Copy it.
How to Download and Install Software Updates on TCL Roku TV
After getting your Roku Model number and your USB flash drive ready, you can start downloading the update.

- Go to https://tvupdate.roku.com/ on your computer’s browser.
- Choose your TCL Roku TV.
- Enter your Roku Model number.
- Click Download software. You can save the file at any location on your computer. After downloading, go to the file location. Note that you should not close your window browser to proceed to the next step.
- Insert your USB into your computer and transfer the update.roku file.
- Connect your USB to your Roku TV.
- On your remote, press the Home button.
- Go to Settings.
- Select System.
- Click System update.
- Select I can’t connect. A 12-digit code will appear. Copy it.
- Go back to your computer. In Step 3, enter the 12-digit code.
- Click Next Step. A 6-digit code will appear. Copy it.
- Go back to your Roku TV. Enter the 6-digit code. The update will begin. Wait for the process to finish.
