You may have heard of the Blue Screen of Death or BSOD and how it is a complicated error to many Windows computer users. But did you know that there is also the White Screen of Death or WSOD? Such an issue occurs on various devices and apps. One of them is the Google Chrome browser on Windows 10 PC or Mac computer.

But, unlike BSOD, WSOD problems are not that difficult to troubleshoot and fix. A tweak on the settings of your Chrome browser may sometimes help in troubleshooting and resolving the error if you get stuck with it.

WSOD happens when you see a blank, white, or sometimes black web page after launching your Google Chrome browser. It does not have any error message or anything that will help you know what to do. It is just a blank space after seeing that the browser has fully loaded.

  1. I got the white screen, completely white. Couldnt go to settings to do anything. Was going to uninstall then re install chrome, as other browsers worked. However, decided to try powering off PC I mean unplugging it completely. Waited 2 minutes, plugged back in, turned on PC, and Viola! no more white screen. Chrome worked fine. Also took the opportunity to disable hardware accelerator in settings just in case. But always try the simple solution first.

  2. Way to post a bunch of “fixes” that anyone who knew wth they were talking about would know wouldn’t work.
Thankfully restarting the PC fixed it.
