Putting your iPhone in silent mode is sometimes necessary. After all, the last thing you want is to constantly hear notifications just when you are in the middle of an important meeting, you’re binge-watching your favorite TV series, or you just want to get a good night’s sleep.

However, if your iPhone switches to silent mode all by itself even if you don’t set it so, it’s easy to miss out on notifications and calls. To fix this issue on your iPhone, here are a few things you can do.

Ways to Resolve iPhone Keeps Automatically Switching to Silent Mode Error

Adjust Sound Settings on your iPhone

  • Go to the Settings app of your iPhone and choose Sounds.
  • Look for Ringer and Alerts.
  • If the tab for Change with Buttons shows as green, you can simply turn it off so that the ringer function doesn’t interfere.

Inspect the Switch on your iPhone and Clean It Properly

You may forget about it but the switch button should be the first thing you need to check if your iPhone automatically switches to silent mode. The switch button is located on top of the volume buttons of your device.

  • Clean and wipe the silent switch button with a soft cloth. See to it that it doesn’t have any traces of dust or dirt that might interfere with its function and make it turn out accidentally.
  • This is also the best time for you to check the silicone case if you’re using one. Several users have reported that the culprit for the automatic switches to silent model is none other than the tight silicone case they’re using.
  • You can replace or completely remove your iPhone case. See to it that the switch is turned off.
  • Check once again after several hours. If it doesn’t show the on detail or orange color, it means that it’s already turned off and the error on your iPhone is fixed.

Disable Silence Unknown Callers on iPhone

iPhones have this nifty add-on feature that lets you silence callers whose numbers are not familiar to you. This is an effective means to prevent spam callers on your device.

However, you might end up missing important calls from banks or courier companies. To stop it from happening, you should try turning off this feature first before you try again.

  1. Launch the Settings menu and look for the Phone option.
  2. Choose Silence Unknown Callers.
  3. Switch off the toggle beside the Silence Unknown Callers option.

  2. Look for Sound Haptics or Sounds.
  3. Go to Ringer and Alerts.
  4. Turn off the toggle switch for Change with Buttons.
