Windows 10 is making it easier and more secure for its users to sign in to their laptop or desktop computers. Microsoft launched Windows Hello, which offers a quick but safe process to log in. Users can use alternative ways to sign in such as facial recognition, fingerprint, and a PIN authentication.

For new users or new devices, Windows Hello is part of the signing in process. You have to add a PIN, password, and other details. When you sign in to your PC, you have to enter your PIN for authentication.

While a PIN system may seem a faster way to log in to your computer, many users are not comfortable with it. They would rather use their passwords instead of entering a PIN. So, if you don’t like to sign in using a PIN on your Windows 10 PC, you can disable it through the Settings menu.

Note that Windows Hello applies to your device and not your Microsoft account. It means that when someone knows about your PIN and tries to use it to sign in to your Microsoft account on another computer, he or she cannot do so. You can only use the PIN to sign in on a particular device.
