How to Completely Enable or Disable Allow Wake Timers Settings in Windows 10

Our Windows 10 PC goes into hibernation or sleep when it is not in use. It will save energy and resources, especially if you are not using it for a long time. But, if you have certain tasks to perform at a particular time, you can set the Allow Wake Timers for your PC to wake up at the time you set earlier. 

However, if you don’t like your Windows 10 computer to wake up from sleep automatically, you can turn off the Allow Wake Timers setting. To enable or disable your Allow Wake Timers in Windows 10, you can follow the solutions indicated below.

How to Turn On/Off Allow Wake Timers Settings in Windows 10 PC

There are different methods how you can remove or set the wake timers to stop in your Windows 10 PC. Some users are using the Windows Registry Editor to change up some values to control the Wake Timers settings. But, you can also do it through your Power option or the Command Prompt. Check out the steps below.

Method #1 – Editing Allow Wake Timers in Windows 10 Via Power Options on PC

  • Launch the Control Panel of your Windows 10 PC.
  • Navigate to Hardware and Sound.
  • Select Power Options.
  • Under Selected Plans, click Change Plan Settings.
  • Go to Change Advanced Power Settings.
  • A new window will open.
  • Look for the Sleep option and expand the menu.
  • Click Allow wake timers.

Now, you can set your wake timers to Disable, Enable, or Important Wake Timers Only. You can also edit the setting when your computer is on battery or plugged in.

Method #2 – Enable or Disable Allow Wake Timers in Windows 10 Via Command Prompt

  • Open the Command Prompt of your Windows 10 PC.
  • Make sure to select Run as administrator.
  • There are different commands that you can copy and paste on your Command Prompt, depending on how you want to set your Wake Timers. 
  • On Battery

    • Important Wake Timers Only: powercfg /SETDCVALUEINDEX SCHEME_CURRENT 238c9fa8-0aad-41ed-83f4-97be242c8f20 bd3b718a-0680-4d9d-8ab2-e1d2b4ac806d 2
  • Plugged In
    • Disable: powercfg /SETACVALUEINDEX SCHEME_CURRENT 238c9fa8-0aad-41ed-83f4-97be242c8f20 bd3b718a-0680-4d9d-8ab2-e1d2b4ac806d 0
    • Enable: powercfg /SETACVALUEINDEX SCHEME_CURRENT 238c9fa8-0aad-41ed-83f4-97be242c8f20 bd3b718a-0680-4d9d-8ab2-e1d2b4ac806d 1
