If you are fond of reading books on your Kindle, phone, or tablet through ebooks, you would know that they do not have the same file format as other document files. These file formats can be read and supported in different types of e-reader devices.

But, what if you come across an unfamiliar ebook file format known as LIT? Can you open and read the ebook on your device?

LIT is a type of ebook file format developed by Microsoft for their Microsoft devices. It stands for Literature. Initially, you can open and read LIT files in the Microsoft Reader tool. However, the Microsoft Reader app is no longer available.

If you happen to receive or download a LIT ebook file format, you can still open and read it by converting the file into other popular and more common file formats. All you have to do is download a .LIT file converter tool or a viewer or reader app that opens such file type on your Windows 10/11 PC, and you can read the content on your LIT ebook.
