Are you interested in learning how to resolve the AirPods Max headphones and AirPods Pro earbuds from Apple issue with Active Noise Cancellation?

Three noise-canceling settings are available on AirPods Pro and AirPods Max device: Active Noise Cancellation, Transparency mode, and Off. If you wish to hear more or less about your environment, you can switch among these options.

Due to their noise-canceling modes, “Active Noise Cancellation” and “Transparency Mode,” Apple’s newest AirPods Pro wireless earbuds and AirPods Max Bluetooth headphones have received praise. Depending on how much of your surroundings you want to hear, you can switch between the several modes, each of which serves a particular purpose.

One of the noise-control settings, Active Noise Cancellation (ANC), is quite helpful anytime you are in a conference or simply chatting with friends, but what if it only works on one earcup? How to Troubleshoot & Fix the AirPods Max & Pro Active Noise Cancelling Control Button Issue

The problem with broken Active Noise Cancelation feature on Airpods Max and Pro varies from user to user. Some people report that they get a rattling or crackling sound when turning and switching the noise canceling button on. Other customers say that they only hear the noise cancellation active on one side of the headphones.

Solution # 1 – Restart your AirPods Max or Pro

You know you cannot reboot or turn off the AirPods Max or Pro like you would normally do with other devices. There is no power button to turn it on or off as needed. However, Apple has luckily made it possible to restart the AirPods Pro or Max. Try a straightforward restart if you experience problems with the noise control button on your AirPods Max or Pro.

The AirPods Max or Pro, like all other wireless headphones and earbuds, syncs with iOS devices over Bluetooth. The failure of the Noise Control Button to accomplish its job is not always the fault of the button itself.

Bluetooth connectivity problems are possible causes. The button will be ineffective if the AirPods Max or Pro fails to pair due to a poor Bluetooth connection with your iPhone. I recommend taking AirPods Max or Pro off and then back on again. Enable the AirPods Max or Pro in your Bluetooth settings, and forget about it. Once that’s done, you’ll be prompted to pair your AirPods Max or Pro with your iOS smartphone when you bring them together. Once everything is hooked up, test the Noise Control Button to ensure it’s functioning properly.

Solution # 3 – Reset your AirPods

A simple reset should do the trick if you’re having trouble using Apple AirPods Max’s or Pro’s Noise Controls. If the AirPods Max’s Noise cancelling button is malfunctioning, you can try resetting the device to its default factory settings.

Solution # 4 – Wash your AirPods Pro Earbuds

You can get more volume out of your AirPods by cleaning them, and in the process, you can also improve their performance and extend their lifespan. The AirPods’ active noise canceling feature may be restored without disassembly and cleaning. Keep your attention fixed on the AirPods Pro’s top mesh.

The microphone used for Noise Cancellation is hidden beneath the mesh and points outward. Trace amounts of foreign material on the mesh will prevent the microphone from functioning as intended, filtering out background noise.

Solution # 5 – Register Your AirPods for Maintenance and Fixes

The company has said that an unspecified number of AirPods Pro produced by Apple before October 2020 may be flawed and have audio problems. The malfunctioning devices could make crackling or static noises during calls or in extremely noisy settings. The problem has several noticeable side effects, including the failure of Active Noise Cancellation and the loss of bass.

Make sure the service program covers your AirPods Pro by contacting Apple Support. It would help if you went to an Apple Store or another authorized service provider.

Solution # 6 – Update the System on the Paired Gadget

Sound problems with AirPods can be resolved by updating your iPhone, iPad, or Mac software to the latest version.

If the AirPods’ Noise Cancellation feature isn’t working on your Apple Watch but works on your iPhone, try updating the watch’s software.

The Active Noise Cancellation is currently only available on Apple’s AirPods Pro and AirPods Max as of the publication date of this guide. Despite looking like the AirPods Pro in certain ways, the AirPods 3 do not have ANC functionality.
