  • System Overheating
  • Outdated System Drives
  • Not enough memory space
  • Unnecessary programs on the computer
  • Hard Drive issues etc.

These are some common reasons due to which your Windows 10 PC can freeze and stop working, however it is easy to overcome the problems just by fixing the root cause of the problem.

Disconnect All Devices

Then boot up the computer to check whether or not they were the root cause of the problem or not.

Free up Disk Space on the System Disk

Another cause of Windows freezing could be low disk space on your computer drive which can lead to computer lagging or simply freezing. To overcome this problem, it is advised to remove any junk files you think reside on your computer through Windows 10 disk cleanup to make some more space for other files or you can simply increase the system drive.

Scan for Virus

Virus and Malware function have been a cause for slow computer working as well as computer freezing for the longest times and it is certainly not new for Windows 10, as this problem was found in the previous versions too. Viruses attack your computer through a bunch of ways and to avoid virus and other malware attacks it is advised to scan your computers with a good antivirus software every few days.

Run the SFC Scan

One of the root causes of system hanging, freezing or slowing can be when the system’s file corrupts. If problem like this occur, it is better if you scan your computer system through a file system checker command. This tool can scan, detect and repair the corrupted files system in Windows.

If you do not know how to do it simply follow these steps:

  • Right click on the start menu button and then click on open Command Prompt (Admin).
  • Type the following command sfc/scannow and click on Enter.
  • Wait for the whole scanning process to get completed and once it is done, restart your computer.

Remove Problematic Software

Sometimes, some softwares can prove to be toxic for Windows and cause it to freeze or hang. In Windows 10 users reported that software’s like McAfee, Office Hub App, Speccy, Acronis True Image were the root cause of their systems freezing. So if you have such software’s on your computer it is better if you try uninstalling them and check if the freezing issue gets resolved.

These are some steps that can help you overcome the freezing of your systems. Follow these steps and hopefully one of them could be the root problem. However, if you are still not satisfied and think that the cause is something greater you can always get it checked by some professionals.
